Catholic Social Services MissionOur Mission

As a Catholic social services agency, we are guided by faith to care for and bring hope to people in need with humility, compassion and respect.

As a Catholic social services agency…

We have been called forth by the Archdiocese of Edmonton to give witness to the great commandment given by Jesus Christ to love God and to love one another.

We carry out our mission with compassion and competence and in accordance with the social teachings of the Catholic Church.

We welcome and celebrate the diversity of our employees and volunteers who choose to work with our agency in support of our mission, values and principles.

…we are guided by faith…

…to promote the sanctity of life and the inherent dignity of every human being by protecting, nurturing and advancing life from the moment of conception until the moment of natural death.

…to serve people of all faiths, or no faith, while always respecting their personal freedom and dignity.

…to affirm a holistic vision of each person we encounter by caring for their spiritual, material, physical, and mental well-being.

…to give a priority to the needs of the most vulnerable people in our communities in developing and fulfilling our various ministries.

…to care for and bring hope to people in need with humility, compassion and respect

Genuine humility comes from acknowledging with gratitude our human abilities and limitations. We demonstrate humility by doing the best that we can with the resources that we have been given while entrusting the entirety of our work to God.

Compassion is the act of responding to people in need with love. We demonstrate our compassion by caring for people without judgment and without condition.

Respect for others is grounded in our belief that all people have been created in the image and likeness of God. We demonstrate our respect by being personally present, open and attentive to those we care for and by honouring their dignity and freedom.
